Transparent pricing

Legal fees explained

We adapt our fee structure to the nature of your matter. Hourly rates start at 155 EUR + VAT per hour. No hidden charges — always agreed in writing before work begins.

Three fee models

We propose the model best suited to your matter. In most cases we can tell you which model applies after reviewing a brief description of your situation.

01

Hourly rate

Best for

Ongoing advisory, correspondence, multi-stage matters or situations where the scope is genuinely difficult to define in advance.

How it works

Rates start at 155 EUR + VAT per hour. Time spent is recorded in 6-minute units. You receive itemised invoices showing work performed. A retainer deposit is usually agreed up front.

Typically includes

  • Review of documents and correspondence
  • Research of applicable Czech law
  • Calls, meetings and negotiations
  • Court and authority representation
  • Translation coordination
02

Fixed fee

Best for

Well-defined, predictable tasks — e.g. reviewing a contract, drafting a standard agreement, preparing a trade licence application, or a one-off consultation.

How it works

We agree a single price upfront. You know the total cost before we start. If the scope expands materially, we agree a supplement before continuing.

Typically includes

  • Initial assessment of your documents
  • The defined deliverable (review, draft, advice)
  • One round of revisions or follow-up questions
  • Summary of findings in English

Fixed-fee work is always scoped in writing before we begin.

03

Phase-based budget

Best for

Complex or multi-stage matters — litigation, immigration processes, corporate transactions — where the overall cost is large but each phase can be scoped individually.

How it works

We break the matter into phases (e.g. initial advice → document preparation → submission → follow-up). Each phase is agreed and paid for separately. You retain full control over whether to proceed to the next phase.

Typically includes

  • Phase-by-phase written scope
  • Defined deliverable and timeline per phase
  • No automatic commitment to subsequent phases
  • Progress update at end of each phase

You can stop at the end of any phase without incurring future costs.

Pricing factors

What affects the cost

Czech legal fees are not regulated by a fixed tariff — we set our rates based on the complexity, urgency and scope of each matter. The factors below typically affect the final cost.

  • Complexity

Straightforward document reviews cost less than full litigation or corporate transactions.

  • Urgency

Matters requiring same-day or weekend response carry a premium.

  • Volume of documents

Reviewing a two-page contract differs from a 200-page data room.

  • Language

Work involving Czech-language documents or proceedings may require additional time.

  • Court representation

Hearings, procedural steps and enforcement actions are billable separately.

Before work begins you receive a written engagement letter setting out scope, fee model and estimated cost.

If extra work becomes necessary beyond the agreed scope, we will notify you and agree additional fees before continuing.

Itemised invoices

For hourly-rate matters, invoices list work performed so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Non-binding initial review

We review your enquiry and explain how we can help before you commit to anything.

Common questions

Fees FAQ

How do I get a fee estimate?

Describe your situation via the contact form. Once we have reviewed the matter we will propose the most appropriate fee model and give you a written estimate before any work begins.

Do you charge for the initial review?

The initial enquiry — where we assess whether and how we can help — is non-binding and at no charge. A fee is only agreed once we confirm we can accept your matter and you agree to proceed.

Are there disbursements on top of lawyer fees?

Yes. Court fees, notary fees, official translation costs and authority filing fees are separate. We will identify any anticipated disbursements in the written engagement letter.

Do you charge VAT?

PEERS advokátní kancelář, s.r.o. is VAT-registered in the Czech Republic (CZ22096973). Czech VAT (currently 21%) applies to services provided to Czech-based clients. For clients outside the Czech Republic, the reverse-charge mechanism may apply. We will confirm the correct VAT treatment for your specific situation.

Can I pay by bank transfer?

Yes. Payments are made by bank transfer to our Czech bank account. Invoice currency is Czech Crown (CZK) by default; EUR invoicing can be arranged for foreign clients.

What if I cannot afford full representation?

We offer limited-scope instructions — for example, reviewing a document or advising on a single question — so you can access specific legal help even on a tighter budget. Tell us what you need and we will try to find a practical approach.
