Our process
From enquiry to resolution
Working with a lawyer in a foreign country should feel straightforward, not stressful. Here is exactly how an engagement with PEERS Czechia works — step by step.
You describe your situation
Send us a brief description of your matter — by email, contact form or phone. There is no formal intake process. You do not need to prepare documents at this stage. A few sentences about what has happened and what you need is enough to start.
Non-binding and at no charge. We review and confirm scope
An attorney reviews your enquiry, identifies the relevant area of Czech law and assesses whether PEERS can assist. If we can, we confirm in writing the scope of work, the fee model (hourly, fixed or phase-based), and an estimated cost. If the matter falls outside our practice, we will tell you honestly.
Typically within one business day.Engagement letter and retainer
Before work begins, you receive a written engagement letter. It sets out the agreed scope, fee structure, estimated total, and terms of representation. You sign it digitally and, where applicable, pay an initial retainer. No hidden terms.
Everything agreed in writing upfront. We get to work
Once engaged, your assigned attorney takes over. They review documents, draft agreements, research Czech law, liaise with authorities or counterparties, and keep you informed at every meaningful step. Communication is in English. Progress updates are provided proactively — you will not have to chase us.
You remain in control throughout.Completion and handover
When the work is complete, we deliver the result — a reviewed contract, a submitted application, a court decision, a registered company — along with a plain-English summary of what was achieved, any ongoing obligations you need to be aware of, and recommended next steps if relevant.
Clear conclusions, not just legal jargon. After the matter closes
We remain available for follow-up questions related to the completed matter. If a new situation arises, you can re-engage on the same terms or discuss a new scope. Many clients return as their Czech legal needs evolve — with visa renewals, company changes, employment issues or property transactions.
Long-term relationship, not a one-time transaction.How we operate
Our working principles
Plain English, always
Legal processes are explained in clear English. We never assume you know Czech law — our job is to make it understandable.
Remote-first
Most work can be handled by email, video call or secure document sharing. In-person meetings are available at our Prague office when needed.
Proactive communication
We update you before you need to ask. If something changes, you will know about it the same day.
Defined scope
We do not start work without a written scope. If the matter expands, we discuss it with you before continuing.
Multi-lingual team
Our attorneys work in Czech, English, French, Polish and Slovakian. Documents and instructions can be handled across languages.
Czech Bar regulated
All attorneys are members of the Czech Bar Association (ČAK) and are bound by professional conduct rules including confidentiality.
